Penguin released a new title in English, Giant Pandas: Born Survivors, in November in Chengdu, Sichuan's provincial capital. The book was written by conservation experts Zhang Zhihe and Sarah Bexell, who are both from the Chengdu Panda Research Base and have unparalleled access to the pandas and related data. With colorful photographs of the pandas both at the base and in the wild, the book examines myths about the giant panda, introduces some of the star pandas from the base, and describes the pandas' habitat, food and how they survive the "best and worst of mankind" and nature.
