Ren Xingzhou, research fellow and former Director-General, Institute for Market Economy, Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC)

She studied in Jilin University and got a Bachelor's Degree in economics in 1982 and a Master's Degree in economics in 1985. She attended an intensive Japanese training course in Beijing Foreign Languages University from March 1989 to July 1989.

She started working in 1972 and joined DRC in July 1985. She worked respectively as assistant research fellow, associate research fellow and research fellow. From April 1992 to August 1993 she studied as a visiting scholar at Hitotsubashi University of Japan. She took the posts of Deputy Director-General and Director-General of the Institute of Market Economy at DRC respectively since February 1995.

Her research field covers the theory and policy concerning market economy, the establishment and improvement of market system and rules, circulation system, social credit system, the development and reform of modern service industry and consumption structure and policy.

She has published a number of papers mainly including Commodity Distribution Network: A Golden Key to Success, Price Reform in China, The Course of China's Marketization, The Development of China's Wholesale Market and the Establishment of an Integrated Market, A Comparative Study on the Openness Degree of Circulation Industry between China and Japan, The Adjustment of Consumption Policy Should Be Targeted at Buyer's Market, An Evaluation on the Establishment of a Basic Framework for Socialist Market Economic System.

She enjoys government special allowance. In addition, she is concurrently an expert of the Expert Committee of the Ministry of Commerce, Vice President of China Marketing Association, the Executive Director of China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing, Director of the Commerce Economy Association of China, Director of China Consumer Association and Director of the National Society of Japanese Economic Studies.
