National Youth Games Athletes' Village opens

Yang Yimin (left), mayor of Fuzhou, capital of Fujian province, hands the “key” to the Athletes’ Village of the first National Youth Games to Chen Ye, deputy Fuzhou mayor who is also the head of the village, at an opening ceremony in Fuzhou, Oct 8. The Games, which is the largest sports event Fujian has ever hosted, will take place in nine cities and the Pingtan Comprehensive Pilot Zone from Oct 18 to 27. The village takes up an area of about 17 hectares near the Haixia Olympic Sports Center in Cangshan district, and consists of 22 apartment buildings with more than 1,500 private rooms accommodating about 6,000 athletes. There are also other facilities including office space, plazas, restaurants and storefront streets. [Photo/Xinhua]
