The Yonghe Philippine Chinese organization sent a delegation to the city of Jinjiang, in China’s coastal province of Fujian, on May 26, to discuss investment opportunities and to visit the City Exhibition Hall and Archives and other sites.
They attended a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Yonghe Middle School’s new playground that the organization donated and a ground-breaking ceremony for a new teachers dormitory.
The organization is the idea of a group of overseas Chinese originally from the town of Yonghe, near Jinjiang, who, for years have been supporting their hometown’s development by building roads, bridges and schools. But, the delegation members said they were all surprised at the tremendous changes that have taken place in their hometown.
The secretary-general of the delegation, Zhuang Zhirong, said that people from the Jinjiang area will always keep their spirit no matter where they are and will fight and win.
