The health and safety of workers in the fishery industry in Jinjiang came under discussion at a working conference, held on Jan 27.
The meeting was aimed at improving production safety standards in the industry in 2016 and reviewing the outcomes of the previous year.
The fishery industry in Jinjiang is about to have a short break to celebrate the coming Spring Festival, but following that it will enter its peak season, and all the fishing boats will be out to sea.
Spring is the busiest season for maritime navigation, while it is also a misty season, which makes for a high incidence of accidents at that time. It was pointed out during the conference that all the local fishery departments and fishing boats themselves should carry out management work and make efforts to ensure production safety.
In the meantime, the fishery industry must maintain the boats daily and strengthen the inspection work carried out in ports.
