Jinjiang, widely known as China's footwear capital, plans to strongly promote its sports industry development and push to become a Sports City in 2016. Plans have been made to cover aspects of sports exhibition, competitive performance, infrastructure construction, platform establishment, urban fitness, and the sports tourism industry, according to an official Sports City construction plan released recently.

Platform establishment
This year, Jinjiang will set up a sports industrial investment fund to roll out an e-commerce and research platform for the sports industry.
Urban fitness program
The urban fitness program will be divided into four parts for different groups like urban locals, neighborhoods, enterprises, and schools.
Sports tourism
Relying on local natural resources, Jinjiang plans to build a provincial sports leisure base, and create a tourism brand of leisure along with festival sports, such as Wuzu Quan or Wuzu Boxing, Tai Chi, and grabbing ducks in the water, a particular custom in Jinjiang's Anhai town on Dragon Boat Festival.
Jinjiang will also conduct a sports talent training program to contribute to the city planning.
