Lin Boqian, vice mayor of Quanzhou, Fujian province, visited Jinjiang to review progress in the Goldstar Lotus Automobile project on June 1.
Proton, Lotus Group and Goldstar LOTUS Automobile Company signed a joint venture agreement to develop Lotus-brand passenger cars for China in 2015, with the project to be located in Jinjiang.
The land use and planning of the project, which will cover an area of 2 million square meters with a total investment of 12 billion yuan ($1.8 billion), has been completed. Construction of supporting facilities such as electricity, gas, water pipes and roads construction is proceeding in an orderly manner.
Both the government and the project should make every effort to advance the construction, Li said, adding that Goldstar should be more active and make a clear schedule for each period of construction, while government bureaus should strengthen coordination and reinforce services to the project.
