Provincial capital Hangzhou won first place among China's top 10 brand cities at a recent festival. It was the first time the city received the honor.

It topped the cities of Qingdao, Quanzhou, Changchun, Wenzhou, Shenzhen, Changsha, Dalian, Wuxi and Binhai New Area of Tianjin.

Organized by the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and the Brand China Industry Union, the event is billed as the largest and most influential annual competition about city brands in the nation.
