Wang Yingxia (1908-2000) was considered the No. 1 beauty of Hangzhou City in the 1930s, and her two marriages were much talked about all over the city.

Wang first married at 20 to the famous scholar Yu Dafu, but the well-matched couple was divorced 12 years later. Soon after their divorce, Wang accepted the marriage proposal of a wealthy businessman.

In Wang's memoir during her later years, she said that had she not gotten married with Yu, no one would know her or even be interested in her life; had she not been married to her second husband, the rest of her life would have been quite unsettling.
