Tang Ying (1910-1975) was a social butterfly from a famous family in Shanghai. Together with similarly prominent lady, Lu Xiaoman, she opened a high-end boutique Shanghai – the first of its kind in China entirely dedicated to women's clothing. The boutique sold dresses modeled after the world most popular design, and its brand soon swept the entire city. Some had reported that, thanks to Tang and Lu's boutique, a freshly trending design in Paris would appear on the street of Shanghai merely 10 days later.
