Contracts conclude for Stung Russei Chrum Hydropower Station

On Oct 22, CGGC reached contracts valued $131 million with China Huadian Engineering Co (CHEC) in Beijing.

The contracts involve the construction of the dams of the upper and lower hydropower stations at downstream Stung Russei Chrum, Cambodia and the construction periods of 32 months respectively.

The two dams, 8 kilometers from each other, will be built at downstream Stung Russei Chrum, Kaoh Kong, west Cambodia and 290 kilometers from Phnom Penh the capital city.

According to the contracts, the upper station will have a concrete face rockfill dam with a top elevation of 124 meters and the normal storage level of 263 meters, and will be installed with two 103mw vertical shaft mixed flow generating units totaling 206mw; and the lower station will have a roller-compact concrete gravity dam with a top elevation of 58.5 meters and the normal storage level of 108 meters, and will be installed with two 66mw vertical shaft mixed flow generating units totaling 132mw.

The two hydropower stations are important projects of Cambodia's hydropower development and will play significant roles in the county's power supply.
