On Aug 7, the Commonwealth Society of Beijing (CSB hereinafter) held donor appreciation activities in Beijing for large state-owned enterprises including CGGC, well-known Chinese private enterprises, foreign embassies and consulates in China, multinational corporations, prestigious domestic and overseas entrepreneurs and other organizations as well as individuals, to thank their strong support to CSB and generous donation to women and children in China’s poverty-stricken areas.

CSB is a non-profit organization founded in 1993 by the wives of ambassadors from Commonwealth countries in China. Over a long time, CSB has devoted itself to official and non-governmental exchanges among its member states and between the member states and China. Meanwhile, it makes an utmost effort to help China’s vulnerable groups and impoverished population. It is open to women from embassies of Commonwealth members and international organizations in Beijing.

Joan Chong Leung, CSB chairwoman and wife of Mauritian ambassador to China, spoke highly of the outstanding contribution made by CGGC to the organization’s charity undertakings. She said that CGGC had set a good example in emphasizing both economic and social benefits as well as in positively fulfilling social responsibilities and expressed sincere thanks to caring organizations and individuals represented by CGGC from both home and abroad.
