Located in Lushan County, Henan province, Shahe Aqueduct, as part of the middle line of South-to-North Water Diversion Project, is the largest canal aqueduct project in the world, with a full length of 11.938 kilometers and a total investment of 2.6 billion yuan ($428.24 million). Construction of the 3.53-km-long tender section is difficult because of its large scale, where a single trough is 1,200 tons in weight and 9.6 meters in height.

The whole aqueduct is a box-foundation structure built with thin concrete walls, the design and construction technology is both domestically and internationally advanced. Its integrated flow, span, weight, length and some other indicators rank first in the world.
