On Nov 8 at the second China-Pacific Island Countries Economic Development and Cooperation Forum, CGGC International General Manager Chen Xiaohua on behalf of CGGC met with Papua New Guinea Prime Minister Peter O'Neill for all-round cooperation between China and PNG in the field of energy and infrastructure construction.
Mr Chen briefly introduced to Prime Minister Peter O'Neill CGGC’s current situation and its achievements made in recent years in the international market. He also talked in detail about the projects for which negotiations are going on with Papua New Guinea. Praising CGGC as a world-renowned construction contractor, the Prime Minister said that his country is now vigorously developing infrastructure including energy and highways and looking forward to CGGC’s entering PNG market for in-depth cooperation and common development. He assured that his government would provide more support and assistance for CGGC.
Mr O'Neill accepted the invitation of Mr Chen with great pleasure, saying that he would pay a visit to CGGC headquarters and the great Three Gorges Project at an appropiate time.
As the highest-level collective dialogue mechanism in the economic and trade field between China and Pacific island countries, China-Pacific Island Countries Economic Development and Cooperation Forum acts as an important platform for the two sides to strengthen economic ties and common development. The Forum this year was held in Guangzhou. Wang Yang, Vice Premier of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China attended the opening ceremony and gave a keynote address. Many heads of Pacific island countries attended the Forum.
