CGGC-undertaken Mongolian Western Highway opened to traffic

Between Dec 8 and 9, 2013, the third section (Kobdo) and the fifth section (Olgiy) of the Mongolian Western Highway undertaken by CGGC were opened to traffic in succession, indicating that the two sections of the highway with a total length of 145.3 kilometers were officially put into service.

X.ERJAN, vice minister of the Ministry of Transport, director general of the Highway Administration, governor of Kobdo Province and governor of Olgiy Province of Mongolia attended the opening ceremony.

X.ERJAN expressed congratulations on the completion and successful handover of the highway, and spoke highly of CGGC for its arduous efforts in and contributions to transportation construction and local development in western Mongolia.

The head of the highway project from CGGC thanked the Ministry of Transport and Ministry of Finance of Mongolia and the governments of Kobdo and Olgiy provinces for their support, and hoped that they make more contributions to the highway construction in Mongolia.

The highway is composed of two sections, namely, the 60km-long Olgiy-Hashate section and the 85.3km-long Kobdo-Manhan section, and its construction mainly involves upgrading the original earth road or gravel road to a 7m-wide asphalt concrete road with 10m-wide roadbed. The project was officially started on May 11, 2011.
