On March 26 CEEC received a 10-member delegation of Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) headed by Chairman of the Board Dao Van Hung. CEEC General Manager Ding Yanzhang extended a warm welcome to Mr. Hung and his entourage, and the two sides exchanged views on closer and deeper cooperation.

During the talks Mr. Ding gave his Vietnamese guests an introduction to the five main business fields and the international business of CEEC, especially their business in Vietnam.Vietnam is one of the important foreign markets of CEEC, Ding said.

Over the years, the Chinese corporation has established a profound friendship with the Vietnamese people and laid a solid foundation for further cooperation through successful thermal power projects in Hai Duong, Haiphong, Mao Khe and Qu ng Ninh, and through hydropower projects in Chiem Hoa and Yon, Ding added proudly.

Ding pledged that CEEC would continue to offer Vietnam advice on and experience in power construction, explore new ways of cooperation and make greater contributions to the economic and social development of the friendly neighbor of China.

Dao Van Hung said that since Vietnam began to reform and open up, its power industry has experienced rapid development and become one of the pillar industries of the country. In recent years however, there has been an ever-growing shortage of electricity supply compared with the increasing demand of rapid economic development in Vietnam.

In spite of an average annual power generation growth rate of 12-13% over the past five years, it still cannot meet the needs. It is forecasted that in the period of 2010-2025 the country's electricity demand will grow at a rate of 15% annually, creating a big market space.

With outstanding performance in the field of power engineering and construction and a strong investment and financing capability, CEEC sincerely hopes to play a greater role in Vietnamese power construction projects.
