Performers bring joy to audiences
This year differed from many others for Tang Chaojie, as he decided to stay in Zhangjiagang during the Spring Festival to put on more shows for local residents.
"This is the first time I celebrated the festival without my parents," said the 23-year-old Wuxi Opera performer.
But his absence from his parents was rewarding, as the free shows he staged during the holiday attracted thousands of residents from all corners of the port city, despite the chilly weather.
His classic performances, especially Pearl Tower, also won him warm cheers from the audience.
"It is joyous and fruitful to spend Chinese New Year with so many people," Tang said.
