Dongcheng Street of Qingcheng district has rich landscape resources. It is vigorously developing the tourism business by focusing on quality and high-end services. By the end of August, 1.02 million tourists had visited the street, which generated 4.1 million yuan, a sharp rise compared to the same period last year.
Dongcheng Street has low hills and broad river valley plains. It sits next to Damao Hill, Ermao Hill and Huangtengxia Hill in the north and borders Beijiang River in the south. It has mild temperatures. It is the only downtown area that sits at the foot of hills and the edge of water, with favorable natural conditions.
An 80 million yuan investment will be used to set up the hotel and villa project for the third phase of Huangteng Valley ecological tourism scenic zone. It has almost completed the comprehensive development and improvement of Niuyuzui ecological scenic spot. Once enhancements have been made to Niuyuzui ecological tourism scenic spot, Jinjiyan tourism scenic spot, and Baimiao fishing village, more tourists are expected to arrive.
The flourishing tourism industry has stimulated the vigorous development of the services industry on Dongcheng Street. At present, the major tourism scenic spots are lined with about 80 rural home inns. All sorts of medium and high-grade restaurants spread throughout the bustling area. In 2010, Dongcheng Street was awarded with the honorary title of Guangdong gourmet tourism destination.
