Deputy Party Secretary: Li Sidian |
Li Sidian, male, was born in October 1959 in Hejin, Shanxi province. Li has a Bachelor of Science degree from Beijing Normal University, a Master of Science degree from Shanxi University, and a Master of Science degree from Xi’an Jiaotong University. Li is a professor and doctoral supervisor, a member of the Theoretical Chemistry Committee of the Chinese Chemical Society, a member of the top talented youth in Shanxi’s higher-education institutes, and a senior contact expert of Shanxi Provincial Party Committee, and State Council Expert for Special Allowance. Li is now the Deputy Party Secretary (principal level) of Shanxi University.
Li once worked as the principal (1997-2000) and Party secretary (1997-1998) of Taiyuan Normal Specialized Postsecondary College, president and deputy Party secretary (2000-2011) of Xinzhou Teachers College, and vice principal of Shanxi University (2011-2015). Li participated in training offered by the Party School of the Central Committee of the CPC in 2001, and in another training offered by China Foreign Affairs University in 2002, as well as the training program for the Senior Executive Fellows of John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, assigned by the Organization Department of the Communist Party of China Central Committee in 2003. Li has successively received the National Outstanding Teacher Award, the Excellent Overseas Returnee Award of Shanxi Province, the first prize in Science and Technology among Institutes of Higher Education in Shanxi Province, second prize in Scientific and Technological Progress (natural science) of Shanxi Province, first prize in Teaching Achievements of Shanxi Province and second prize in National Teaching Achievements, and many more.
In the field of scientific research, Li focuses on the theoretical and experimental research of structural chemistry, material chemistry, and computational chemistry. Since 1990, Li has been invited to the University of Sussex of the United Kingdom, Pacific Northwest National Laboratory and Washington State University of the United States to work on joint research. For over two decades, Li has successively taken charge of and completed four projects for the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the “innovation experimental area for the cultivation of talented people” project under the Ministry of Education, projects for the National Natural Science Foundation of Shanxi Province, international cooperation projects, and eight overseas returnee fund projects.
In addition, Li has published more than 120 professional research papers on such academic journals as Nature Chemistry of the United Kingdom, Accounts of Chemical Research of American Chemical Society, J. Am. Chem. Soc., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. of Germany, Inorg. Chem., Phys. Rev. B, J. Chem. Soc. of the United Kingdom, Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys, Eur. J. Inorg. Chem., as well as Chinese journals Science China, and Acta Chimica Sinica, has compiled one textbook - Basics of Chemical Principles, and has published several long research papers on higher education management and reform on Higher Education of China and China University Teaching.
