Comment on "Molesting suspect held by police" (China Daily, June 15)
At the end of the last century many young Chinese women wore knee-high socks with sandals, and a T-shirt under a sundress.
But now, I think some women are going too far. No matter whether there are men around or not, in public places one's body should be covered. This is not only respect for oneself but also for others. Some young women seem not to see any difference between their bathroom, a subway carriage, a beach or a classroom.
As a woman, I feel embarrassed when a naked belly is right in front of my eyes on the subway, or when I can see the color of panties under a 20-centimeter long skirt, or a pair of breasts jumping out of a top.
Saying this, I'm not trying to excuse the abnormal sexual behavior of some men, but only reminding women that what is covered can be more eloquent and better appreciated than what is seen too easily.
