Theoretically, the spring travel rush could disappear one day. The Chinese government has taken measures to narrow the regional gap and encouraged enterprises in coastal areas to transfer part of their business to inner China to boost local employment and improve residents' livelihoods. If the middle and western regions can develop some highly industrialized areas like the Yangtze River Delta region, migrant workers would work nearer to where they came from and spend much less time going back home.
