When I got my first glimpse of Tee May Chin , she was showing how to deal with babies' respiratory tract infection in traditional Chinese medicine method to 12 mothers, with fluent Chinese and a warm smile.

"Excuse me,I am finding a female named Tee May Chin , who comes from Malaysia, do you know where she is?" I asked one of the mothers.

She pointed to the white-coated speaker, who has brown hair, big black eyes and typical Chinese face.

Miss.Tee came to Beijing in 2009, because she wanted to learn Chinese medicine in Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, and now she is an intern in Department of pediatrics, Dongzhimen Hospital.

"I was born in1989, a snake year, people born in that year are thought to be harmful and evil."Miss Tee felt very sad when others told her about this, so she turned to her mother and asked why. Her mother told her:“snake is evil, but you are a white snake, white snake will save people."

From that moment on, Miss Tee realized her special mission and decided to do some special things."But what can I do to save people",Miss Tee thought this question very seriously when she was a little girl.

"My mom was very weak and couldn't pregnant with me until took a lot of medicine named "wujibaifengwan",it seems that I took a lot of medicine in mother’s belly. I was born with medicine and I really like the taste of medicine. " Miss Tee said, the experience of birth made her ideality to be a doctor.

At the age of 18,Miss Tee got a part time job in a private clinic in Malaysia. At that time, she didn’t know it is a Chinese medical centre,“I just think it is unique and responsible, each patient can get his or her own unique prescription. Sometimes you can recovery with just a TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine)medicine, I regard it as a miracle.”The experience caught her eyes and she hoped to learn TCM once she had chance.

May Chin told her idea of going to China to learn TCM in Beijing University of Chinese Medicine to her parents and took up the STPM course(a foundation course before university).

However, she was allocated to learn Nutriology by the Ministry of Education of Malaysia. At the very start, her parents expected her stay in the local and she was nearly to give up.“It was really a tough chose, but my mom encouraged me to know i may regret in my life if I give up learning TCM.” I hold on it at last .

In 2009, when Miss Tee finally got her dream to study TCM in Beijing, she felt happy as well as lost.“At the beginning time in Beijing , I didn’t like the relationship between people at all. It seems that all the people just saw themselves, without sawing others, very cold, just like the cold winter in Beijing.”May Chin said.

On occasion,May Chin took part in a public benefit activity organized by Tzu Chi in Beijing. She went to a village in Hebei province with her team-mate. They helped the old people put Vaseline on their hands."i am impressed that a grandma rubed my hands together to keep me feel warm,i am very touched."

Back to Beijing from Hebei, May Chin went to some old Hutongs, where she discovered the milk of human kindness in Beijing ."i think people are not really cold in Beijing, they just pack their goodwill and passion, but when doing public welfare, all packaging were torn down."

As May Chin found it was very happy to do public good, so she attended Sanlitun Volunteer Team without hesitation after knowing about their common ideas about public good in 2012.During the four years , May Chin had done a lot of voluntary actions to community residents of Sanlitun.

Mr Fan Hua, administrator of Sanlitun Volunteer Team, said:"May Chin is the person i saw who adheres to the volunteer work best. Including medical care, delicious food cooking and teaching computer operation, she is willing to share whatever she knows to you and help others as well as she can." From 2012 to now, May Chin have attended the volunteer work at least once a month.

Some community resident helped by May Chin likes to call her "Yang Leifeng", which shows praise for her action. But in Miss Tee’s opinion, she prefers to treat it as a name, "to tell the truth, i am very sensitive,or sometimes disgust to some words like: public good, great love or charity. In my mind, volunteer work is not about sacrifice, but about giving warm to each other. ”She is just happy to do this and it makes her feel enrich.

In 2014,serious floods attacked Malaysia. Tee May Chin convened some people to collect money to help the victims.“We raised a sum of money and bought 331 electric cookers, then donated to them.Rice cooker is basic livings, whatever happened, where there is a rice cooker, there is warm.I was very careful and serious when i did the donation, for it related to money,if i did it badly, it would cause bad consequences .” May Chin often tell her friends like this and treat volunteer work very carefully.

Now, May Chin enjoys her life in Beijing and wants to be a pediatrician in a private hospital in Beijing.“Children teach me happy,TCM teaches me the law of nature and how to be a good person,i just want to enjoy these forever.”Miss Tee said, with a big and satisfied smile.
