Final task force meeting of 4th GMS summit kicks off

NAY PYI TAW, Myanmar - The final task force meeting of the Fourth Greater Mekong Subregion Summit opened at the Myanmar International Convention Center in Nay Pyi Taw on Monday, a day before the fourth GMS summit kicks off.

The meeting was co-chaired by Daw Myat Myat So, director general of the Foreign Economic Relations Department of Myanmar Ministry of National Planning and Economic Development and Arjun Goswami, director of the Regional Cooperation and Operations Coordination Division, the Southeast Asia Department of Asian Development Bank.

Representatives from the six GMS countries, namely Cambodia, China, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam, as well as the ADB attended the meeting.

A Business and Investment Conference of the Greater Mekong Subregion will open on Monday afternoon, and the 4th GMS summit will kick off on Tuesday.

The Greater Mekong Subregion Economic Cooperation Program (the GMS Program) was started in 1992 by the six countries sharing the Mekong River. It promotes economic and social development, irrigation and cooperation within the six Mekong countries.
