Bai Ming's exploration of porcelains pushes forward the boundary of this traditional Chinese art, giving it a refreshing look. For instance, his installation, The Spigot (pictured), on display at his exhibition at the Fun Art Space, consists of 72 ceramic tubes that occupy a whole wall. Each tube is the same size but bears a different pattern. The tubes also resemble folded Chinese scrolls, in a deformed way. Bai tries to release the soul of ceramics from the constrained frame in which they were enveloped for centuries. Bai's ink-and-water paintings are also on show.
10:30 am-7 pm, Tuesday to Saturday, until Jan 10. Fun Art Space, 798 Art Zone (about 300 meters forward from Gate 2 entrance), Jiuxianqiao Lu, Chaoyang district, Beijing. 010-5762-3022.
