Industrial production sees steady growth in Sanmenxia

The latest statistics show that in 2013, overall industrial production in the city of Sanmenxia, Central China’s Henan province, has been running smoothly. The annual industrial added-value reached 68.36 billion yuan ($ 112.39 billion), an increase of 10.4 percent over the previous year.

In 2013, the development of new products and technology-intensive products in the city’s major industries was reflecting good development prospects and a relatively high growth rate.

For instance, refined methanol increased by 16.9 percent compared with last year; plastic film enjoyed an upward movement of 16.9 percent; modified cars grew by 40.1 percent; and growth of 6.5 percent was witnessed in the auto parts sector. Other major new products included lithium-ion batteries, complete computer systems and printers which increased by 3.5 percent, 27.3 percent and 61.5 percent respectively.

Moreover, several new industries are being developed in the city, while traditional industries are increasingly becoming high-end, and high-tech industries are growing more and more in quality.

25 of the city's 36 major industrial sectors saw growth over the previous year, accounting for 69.4 percent of the total. Of the top six sectors in terms of proportion, thermal electricity generation and supply was the only business which has declined, while the other five kept on growing.

Among them, the non-ferrous metal industry has increased in value by 28.51 billion yuan, up 14.2 percent over the previous year; the chemical raw material manufacturing industry has increased 20.8 percent to 3.61 billion yuan; and the figure for the non-metallic mineral products industry has increased to 5.17 billion yuan, a growth of 12.8 percent. The additional values of the coal mining and washing industry, and non-ferrous metal smelting and rolling processing industry were 7.56 billion yuan and 6.109 billion yuan, with growth of 5.3 percent and 1.2 percent, respectively.

In 2013, the SMEs (small and medium enterprises) in Sanmenxia’s industrial area achieved an added value of 56.23 billion yuan, an increase of 14.9 percent over the previous year, boosting the city's industrial growth by 11.7 percentage points.
