The city of Sanmenxia in Henan province released its government work report on June 11, 2017, showing its firm determination to pursue a better future while summarizing its accomplishments of the past year.
Sanmenxia's Mayor An Wei elaborated the report at the 7th Sanmenxia People's Congress, which was held at the city's Grand Theater.
The report was mainly divided into four chapters: looking back on 2016, main targets and tasks of the government in 2017, general requirements and targets of the government for the next five years, and the measures that will be taken to improve the government construction.
The year of 2016 marked the start of the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-20) and the GDP of Sanmenxia reaching 134.86 billion yuan ($20.32 billion) that year, a year-on-year increase of 7.7 percent, said An at the meeting.
Since 2016, Sanmenxia has seen the progression of a multitude of new projects. As An pointed out, the city has seen an increasing number of projects in fields of higher education, central and regional organizations cooperation, special agriculture, industry and service.
In 2016, Sanmenxia also began the construction of a "smart" city, detailed plans to optimize its layout, injected new development dynamics, increased investments to improve people's living conditions and improved its social security further, An added.
During the meeting, An announced the development goals of Sanmenxia. He said that the city aims to improve the annual growth rate of GDP to eight percent and of the social fixed assets to 13.5 percent.
He also provided four measures to accomplish the government's development objectives: attract more investments; accelerate the upgrading and transformation of industrial structures; develop Sanmenxia into a regional hub for transportation, economy, trade, agricultural and business; and further the city's construction in a scientific way.
The meeting also covered what Sanemnxia did to improve its GNP and social development in 2016 and 2017 in the report themed with that topic.
