The city of Sanmenxia in Henan province, China announced its annual report on the government's work on information publicity in 2016.
Based on the national regulations on government's information publicity, the report mainly covers eight fields, including an overview of information publicity, reply, charging situation, and publicity meetings and training.
According to the report, in 2016 Sanmenxia's government took an initiative to publicize a total of 120,198 pieces of information, including 2,539 regulative documents.
Due to the opening of online interaction forums, citizens have more opportunities to communicate with the government. In 2016, Sanmenxia's government replied to 792 questions posed by locals, of which 34 were asked at a press conference and 221 were posted on the government's official Weibo account.
Additionally, a total of 146 administrative reviews were conducted by the Sanmenxia government in 2016, a huge increase compared to the same period last year, the report said.
The report also pointed out some problems from the Sanemnxia government in carrying out information publicity, including a lack of personnel, an imbalance of information publicity, delays of information and negative acts from certain departments.
Listening to the concerns of the people, the government addressed these issues in the report. To improve the information publicity, the report stressed that four measures should be taken: improve and regulate working systems; advance the publicity in some key areas; integrate the technological platform of all government websites across Sanmenxia; and enrich publicity altogether through advancements, such as new media platforms.
