The Yuwan (fishing bay) scenic area in Lianyungang has astounding natural landscapes and is called the "Zhangjiajie in Jiangsu". Several hundred years ago, the fishing bay was only a small island stretching from Yuntai Mountain into the sea. Later when the sea tides retreated eastward, it merged into the mainland. Most of the mountain and village scenery depictions in "The Marriage of Flowers in the Mirror", a mythical fiction by Li Ruzhen, which takes place in the Qing Dynasty, were based on landscapes in this area.
