Swan Lake Wetland National Park in Sanmenxia, Henan province, has been granted the status of Popular Science Education Base by the provincial government.
The approval cements the efforts made by the Sanmenxia local government to promote its name card "the city of swans".
Part of the park's efforts have involved popularizing science education, highlighting its uniqueness as a wetland area and improving its facilities and functions as a science education and tourism base.
The park's facilities include an exhibition center for ecological science education and a corridor for poster and picture displays.
The exhibition room allows tourists to use e-book readers, visual quiz responders, touch-screen desks and electronic sand tables to learn about a variety of trees, forest parks, historic figures and geographic features in Sanmenxia.
A walk along the corridor offers tourists the chance to gain a deep knowledge of various birds, plants and climate features, with 180 posters and over 200 pictures on display.
With facilities improving on a daily basis, the park has become a popular location for science education activities organized by local kindergartens and primary schools. Swan Lake Wetland National Park has been a key player in the local government's efforts in shaping its name card.
