The Golden Week National Day holiday brought 1.09 million tourists to the city of Sanmenxia, an increase of 20.2 percent from the same period last year.
During the week, tourism revenue amounted to 220 million yuan ($35.95 million), a year-on-year growth of 17.6 percent, according to an executive meeting of the municipal government chaired by Mayor Zhao Haiyan on October 8.
Hotel and hostel occupancy rate reached a high of 90.7 percent during Golden Week, which started on October 1 (National Day) and ended on October 7.
The executive meeting also announced that the city's transport system handled 1.2 million passengers, an increase of 3.3 percent from a year earlier. No major accidents or traffic jams were reported.
The executive meeting, held on the first work day after the long holiday, summed up the city's production safety, public security and holiday tourism during the week. The meeting also made arrangements for the city's social and economic work in the months to come.
Mayor Zhao stressed that tourism is an important part of the city's development strategy. All departments concerned should collect and analyze feedback from tourists and work harder to improve tourism facilities.
In the final quarter of this year, she said, all departments must do their best to ensure the accomplishment of social and economic goals set for the year, making necessary preparations for their work in the coming year.
