Intl cycling race kicks off in Sanmenxia

The 2018 Circum-Central Plains Open Cycling Championships (Sanmenxia Stop), also known as the 2018 China (Sanmenxia) Yellow River Park Road Cycling Race, took place at the city's Yellow River Park on Sept 28.

The event, considered a significant opportunity to promote Sanmenxia, attracted a number of government officials and journalists, as well as more than 2,000 cycling enthusiasts from both home and abroad.

Covering a length of 8.7 kilometers with six competitive events, the two-day race was sponsored by the Henan Provincial Sports Bureau, the Henan Provincial Sports Federation and the municipal government of Sanmenxia. The race has developed into the largest and most influential sporting competition in the province, putting the spotlight on national fitness.

As a healthy, fashionable and environmentally-friendly exercise, cycling has become one of the most popular sports in the world. The race, which celebrated its fourth anniversary this year, is expected to help promote a green and low-carbon lifestyle and offer a platform to boost the unique tourism brand of the city.
