Perhaps you are fed up with the picturesque regions south of the Yangtze River, so maybe it's time to venture onwards to Northwest China to where one can find desolate beauty.
The experience of travelling in Northwest China, along the Silk Road should not be missed. Many well-known sites in Gansu and Qinghai province and Ningxia Uygur autonomous region can be found along the Silk Road. Although the legendary road has faded away, visitors can appreciate its former trading glory through the relics that still stand today.
Besides the Silk Road attraction, other locations include the blue Qinghai Lake, white Chaka Salt Lake, yellow Dunhuang, red Jiuquan, golden yellow Ejin Banner, green Qilian and the colorful Zhangye, which all paint a colorful and magical Northwest China, waiting for you to explore.
