The image of Scotland’s national dress is now well-known to most Chinese people, thanks to a sketch on the 2009 CCTV Spring Festival Gala. In the sketch, comedian Xiao Shengyang wore a Scottish kilt to play a sissy waiter. The piece not only made Xiao Shengyang an overnight celebrity, but also his iconic Scottish costume.
