Edinburgh Castle
Wandering around any street in central Edinburgh is like walking into an old Scottish movie. With long and winding flagstone paths and the ancient castle sitting at the top of the mountain, everything seems to look the way it did hundreds of years ago.
Edinburgh Castle is an historic fortress that has been sitting on the Castle Rock of Edinburgh since around the 12th century. It serves as one of the most important strongholds in Scotland and is recognized as a significant part of Scotland’s national heritage. The castle started as a royal residence, though later its residential role declined and it became a military barracks.
