Fake beggar in Beijing subway detained
It may be hard to believe, but a fake beggar earns over 10,000 yuan per month and has bought two houses in Beijing.
The man, surnamed Li, 46, was detained by the police on Monday in the subway in Beijing, as he faked being lame, Beijing Youth Daily reported.
The man was begging on subway line 5. He has a regular route from Liujiayao station to Huixinxijie Nankou station. He usually walked into the subway and then pretended to be lame, wearing rags every day. His carton was filled with change from passengers on the subway after 40 minutes, according to the police.
A donor, surnamed Wang, said that he donated money as he felt sympathy for the lame beggar. Wang only earns around 3000 yuan a month, less than a third of the beggar's monthly earnings.
