Disabled men plant forest

Two men with disabilities in North China's Hebei province came under the limelight recently after they spent fifteen years planting more than 10,000 trees along a river for the sake of environmental protection.

Jia Haixia, 53, a native of Yeli village, Jingxing county, turned totally blind in an accident in 2000, while his fellow villager Jia Wenqi, also 53, lost his two arms in an electric shock at the age of 3, the Xinhua news agency reported on Thursday.

In 2001, the two men obtained a land reserved for forestation along the Yehe River and started their drive to improve the environment, from which they also earn income.
