West Air said it would provide luggage coupons to female passengers weighing under 45 kg and male passengers under 60kg for 10 kg of free luggage from March 29 to 31, Modern Express reported on Friday.

Some netizens expressed disapproval at the promotion, questioning why heavier passengers should pay more.

A staff member of West Air explained that the luggage coupons are part of a promotion strategy. The airline will be transformed into a budget airline, which will no longer provide free luggage delivery, as ticket prices will be cut by 15 percent.
