Crime Stoppers of Houston is offering up to $70,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects responsible for the murder of a Chinese family in Texas.

Maoye Sun, his wife Mei Xie and their two young sons, Timothy Xie Sun and Titus Xiao Sun, were found shot to death in their home in the suburb of Cypress on Jan 30.

The parents were immigrants from China, and news of the murder has upset Houston's Chinese community.

"On the six-month anniversary of this murder, we ask anyone with information to contact us or the FBI. We have $70,000 that we are willing to put in your hands for the right information to bring us to the person or persons responsible. We want closure for the family," said Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia at a press conference on Wednesday.

According to the lead investigator Abraham Alanis, police have established a time frame. Sun was last seen leaving from work at 7:30 pm on Jan 24. Xie was last known to be alive at 9:18 pm from a phone conversation. The police have concluded that they were murdered between the late hours of Jan 24 and the morning of Jan 25.

So far police haven't been able to get sufficient information on the family's private life to establish the "the narrative that could put a person or family in harm's way", explained Garcia.

Representatives from the Chinese community, Steven Pei, Kenneth Li, Sun Tiehan and Jackson Chang, met with law enforcement officials prior to the news conference. However, they declined to disclose the details of the meeting.

Lee Vala, vice-president of Clear Channel Outdoor, said his company has donated billboards in the Houston area and across the state. "Hopefully someone will see it and provide information," he said.
