Hamburg Summit: China meets Europe

With CHINA TIME 2008 and the economic summit "Hamburg Summit: China meets Europe", during September this year Hamburg has once again proved its outstanding China expertise.

The highlight of a series of events was the opening of the Chinese Teahouse, a gift from its sister city Shanghai.

Mayor von Beust said: "The opening of the Teahouse is the highlight of CHINA TIME Hamburg 2008 and an expression of the traditionally excellent relations between the Hanseatic City and our partner city Shanghai."

Along with the Summit, which is the most important platform for China-Europe dialogue, CHINA TIME impressively demonstrated the China expertise of the trading metropolis of Hamburg that has, in recent years, emerged as China's gateway to Europe. Crowded events and the opening of the Teahouse also underline the great political and economic significance of relations between the two.
