China Education Expo 2008, approved by Ministry of Education and sponsored by China Education Association for International Exchange(CEAIE), had opened its door to all that wishing to study abroad on Saturday, the 18th of October, 2008 and will cover Ji'nan, Zhengzhou, Shanghai, Nanjing, Chengdu and Guangzhou in the following weeks.
Going global for the international education is getting more and more important for Chinese students to sharpen their competitiveness in their future career prospects. Each year since 2002, the number of Chinese students studying abroad continues to register more than 100,000. It is expected that the number will reach 200,000 by 2008.
The Edu-Canada team at Foreign Affairs and International Trade Canada (DFAIT), in close collaboration with the Canadian Embassy in Beijing, had provided the opportunity to exhibit at the 2008 China Education Expo in Beijing where Canada was featured as the "Country of Honour" this year.
This Year's theme for China Education Expo 2008 “Going Global for Your Future “ is set to appeal many audiences by bringing a significant amount of high quality education programs and career oriented courses to China.
About 70 Canadian universities, colleges and language schools will participate in the expo, as Canada has become a popular choice for Chinese students.
The United States will be represented by 50 higher learning institutes. Last year, more than 67,000 Chinese students went to the US to study last year, up 8.2 percent on 2006.
Representatives from about 70 United Kingdom universities and colleges will attend the expo, and the British embassy will also provide on-site counseling to help students understand the country"s detailed education, training, scholarship and visa policies.
Italy, Australia and New Zealand will also take part in the expo.
Apart from information booths where visitors will be able to collect relevant information from representatives of the participating institutions, presentations will also be made where students can find out more about study opportunities and scholarship programs.
