The Chinese Mainland and Taiwan should enhance exchanges with the aim of more practical achievements for the public. The is the message from a meeting between Chinese top political advisor, Jia Qinglin, and visiting Taiwan-based Kuomintang Chairman, Wu Poh-hsiung.
The meeting was held at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing on Monday afternoon. Wu Poh-hsiung and his delegation came at the invitation of President Hu Jintao.
Jia Qinglin spoke highly of the cross-Straits relationship, saying it has made great breakthroughs after a historic turning point last year.
He noted that improved relations have yielded practical benefits for people on both sides.
He also stressed that interaction and inter-party dialogue would play an irreplaceable role in keeping the development of cross-Straits relations on a peaceful track.
