The highly-anticipated "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen" opens for Chinese audiences with a special midnight screening Wednesday, to coincide with the film's global premiere.
Trailers for the sequel to the 2007 blockbuster sci-fi film have boasted a dazzling array of robotic action sequences, along with some Chinese elements that have appealed to local audiences.
The new Transformers film is set to be one of the most explosive movies ever after receiving unprecedented support from the US army to shoot dramatic battle scenes between the robots and the military.
The original had grossed 700 million dollars worldwide at box office and this sequel is expected to do equally well.
Despite a lack of any large-scale promotion in China, fervent Transformer fans have been greatly looking forward to the first domestic showing.
