Peace Mission 2009 continues

The ringing of robust voices, synchronized steps, and the exhilarating whirring of helicopter blades are all features of the military drill underway.

On Wednesday, Chinese and Russian armed forces began a five-day joint military drill aimed at boosting their troops' capability in fighting against terrorism.

Up to 2,600 army and air force personnel with special forces from both sides will participate in this joint military exercise, as well as more than 40 fighter aircraft, helicopter gunships, and other special reconnaissance equipment for fighting terrorists.

Trained military personnel also explain the importance of professional training, rescue exercises and medical aid in the design of military hospitals for temporary establishments. Consequently, all the structures, vehicles and procedures have been designed to maximize the efficiency of hospital work.

The drill is scheduled to run from July 22-26 in Khabarovsk and the PLA's Taonan Tactical Training Base, which borders Russia's Far Eastern region to the north.
