Artists call for donation for SW China

An exhibition collaborated by the Beijing Centre for the Arts and Contemporary Art Academy of China held its opening gala on March 27.

The exhibit, “On Yunnan,” presents nearly 40 pieces of works from 14 Yunnan-based artists in rich forms, including painting, sculpture, multimedia, installation and pictures of performance and architecture.

Performances expressive of Yunnan local cultural characteristics were staged at the BCA exhibition hall. The unplugged live show sent a message from the artists demonstrating a low-carbon attitude on the day of Earth Hour.

At the opening gala an event raising donations for the drought-hit Southwest China was also initiated by the curator and artists.

A singer from the Naxi Ethnic Group of Yunnan province presented a folk song, praying for rain for the people suffering from the drought.

The exhibition will last until May 9.
