Kung fu enthusiast shares Shanghai's inside stories

Born in London, Daniel Newman first came to China at the age of 18 to study a variety of different kung fu systems from masters in Shaolin, Wudang and Dali. Then he went on to obtain a BA in English at the University of York and a master's degree in Modern Chinese Studies at the University of Cambridge.

After living in Shanghai for five years, Newman set up his own tour company, Newman Tours, in January, which offers guided English language experiences in and around Shanghai. During these tours, Newman will tell you many Shanghai folk stories, which are known only to natives of the city.
