Beijing Olympic official film premiered for the 2-year anniversary

Two years have passed since the 2008 Olympic Games opened in Beijing. Director Gu Jun and the young audiences, shared Everlasting Flame, Gu's official film from the 29th Olympic Games on August 7, 2010 in a free public show.

Gu Jun is a director of Central Newsreel and Documentary Film Studio, she came out with the idea of having a documentary about the Beijing Olympics in 2001, and she spent 8 years on accomplishing her dream. In an earlier documentary, Dream Weaver 2008, she recorded the process of the preparation for the Games in Beijing. And in March 2008, she started the program for the official movie. The movie first came out as the closing film in the Montreal World Film Festival in Sept. 2009, which won Gu Jun a lifetime achievement award for her work.

"Through the images, I expressed three levels of my understanding of the Olympic spirit. One is lose and win. The second is challenge yourself and transcend our limits. The last level, which I think is the most important, is the experience of process," Gu Jun said.

In this film, Gu got a lot of rare views under the certification of Olympic Committe. The group follows Asafa Powell and Usain Bolt from Jamaica to Beijing to record the history of how the world's fastest made their way to China. The film captures all of those unforgettable moments during the Games. It was also presented commercially in Beijing's Moma Broadway Cinema on August 8. Though days have passed by, the memories of the Olympics will not disappear.

Huang Wentao, a spectator, said, "Today we came to see this film. It stands for the Olympics, and it's an official view of the game, so it ignites a lot of old memories about the Olympics."

Director Gu Jun is moving on, now she is the head director of the official movie for the 16th Guangzhou Asian Games. The new experience will not just be a copy of Olympics; she hopes it will show the unique culture of the city Guangzhou.
