Typhoon Megi hits the southern city of Xiamen on Saturday afternoon. Yet it is not always ferocious. The wind and rain is mostly spasmodic.
Life in downtown Xiamen is basically normal. Only some advertising banners are blown off.
And the occasional felled tree branch.
Traffic is lighter than usual.
The pier is empty.
The beach is deserted.
Yet there are some who brace the storm and some who even come out to soak in the force of nature, just like the statues that do not budge no matter what.
