The Tibetan art of Thangka

Making delicately crafted silk art scrolls known as Thangka is painstaking work, but it can be even more difficult persuading young people to learn the art.

Migmar Tsering has been learning about embroidery since he was 15. His attention to details has set his work apart from others. Seven years ago, the monks at Hor Monastery asked Tsering to make a giant silk Thangka for them.

China Daily multimedia reporter Feng Xin visited Tsering's workshop to learn why he pays his students to learn Thangka.
