The press conference of the Fifth Session of the 11th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) was held on March 2 at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing.
Spokesperson Zhao Qizheng said China was in full preparation of this year's session of the CPPCC National Committee, the country's top political advisory body.
Zhao also briefed journalists on the work undertaken by the National Committee since the 2011 session. He said during the first year of the 12th Five-Year Plan, the National Committee's work focused on issues relating to the country's political, economic, cultural and social development, as well as people's livelihood.
As of 12 am March 2, 1,501 out of 2,262 members of the CPPCC National Committee had registered at the secretariat of the session, Zhao said, receiving 792 proposals and 429 speech transcripts.
During the press conference, Zhao Qizheng answered questions from both domestic and foreign media.
This year's session, which is scheduled to open on March 3 in Beijing, is also the final session of the 11th National Committee of the CPPCC. It will last ten days and end on March 13.
