American fans were celebrating on Thursday night after the USA took gold in women's soccer in London.
The US won its third straight Olympic gold medal, beating Japan 2-1 in a rematch of last year's World Cup final and avenging the most painful loss in its history.
More than 80,000 fans were at Wembley Stadium – a record for a women's soccer game at the Olympics – for a match that proved more than worthy for the hallowed grounds of the beautiful game.
